El Parlament ha aprovat aquest matí la llei que prohibeix les curses de toros a Catalunya a partir del gener del 2012, resultat d’una iniciativa legislativa popular (ILP) presentada per la Plataforma Prou amb el suport de 180.000 signatures.

La llei ha superat la votació amb 68 vots a favor (32 de CiU, 3 del PSC-CpC, els 21 d’ERC i els 12 ICV-EUiA), 55 vots en contra (7 de CiU, 31 del PSC-CpC, els 14 del PPC i els 3 del grup mixt) i 9 abstencions (6 de CiU i 3 del PSC-CpC).

Amb l’aprovació, es modifica l’article 6 del text refós de la llei de protecció dels animals, aprovat pel decret legislatiu 2/2008 perquè es prohibeixin “les curses de toros i els espectacles amb toros que incloguin la mort de l’animal i l’aplicació de les sorts de la pica, de les banderilles i de l’estoc”. Una prohibició de la qual queden excloses les festes amb bous sense mort de l’animal, els correbous.

El debat ha començat amb la intervenció d’Anna Mulà, membre de la plataforma promotora de la ILP, que ha defensat la iniciativa. “Nosaltres hem acabat la feina i els transferim la responsabilitat a vostès, que poden decidir si Catalunya vol continuar fent espectacle de la mort o prefereixen que l’ètica, la compassió i la raó acabin triomfant”, ha dit. A continuació han intervingut els grups parlamentaris. Han pujat a la tribuna d’oradors els diputats Josep Rull (CiU), David Pérez (PSC-CpC), Joan Puigcercós (ERC), Rafael Luna (PPC), Francesc Pané (ICV-EUiA) i Albert Rivera (grup mixt).
Des de la tribuna d’oradors han seguit el debat membres de la Plataforma Prou, i també de col·lectius pro taurins, entre els quals el torero Serafín Marín.

Aquesta és la quarta ILP que s’aprova al Parlament des que des de l’any 1995 se’n poden presentar. La primera a prosperar va ser la de suport a les seleccions esportives catalanes, l’any 1999, i les següents van ser la llei reguladora de la incineració de residus i la de creació de llars d’infants de qualitat, el 2004.

Modificació de la llei del Consell de Garanties Estatutàries

El ple d’aquest matí també ha aprovat, per unanimitat, la proposició de llei per modificar la llei del Consell de Garanties Estatuàries.

La proposició, presentada pel PPC, afegeix un nou apartat a la normativa d’aquest ens perquè també pugui dictaminar sobre les iniciatives legislatives tramitades en lectura única.

En aquest punt han intervingut Lídia Santos (PSC-CpC) i Jordi Montanya (PPC).

El ple també ha debatut la memòria de la comissió de peticions i ha substanciat una interpel·lació del PPC al conseller Antoni Castells sobre les mesures per lluitar contra la crisi econòmica. Convergència i Unió ha retirat les tres interpel·lacions que preveia substanciar en aquesta sessió.

By now most car lovers are probably more than aware of the hypercar motorshow that is taking place in central London; specifically around Harrods in Knightsbridge.

This summer as ever there is a huge influx of some of the world’s most exclusive and rarest cars, for example this summer we have seen so far a Veyron Sang Noir, a Zonda Cinque Roadster, a Koenigsegg CCXR “Special One”, Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599 Fiorano, 5x Lamborghini LP670-4SVs, and countless other exotic cars.

However it is perhaps normal to spot a few of these cars driving around in any given evening in this area of the city, but I will not quickly forget this evening; Friday 16th July, when in just 2 hours between 7.30 and 9.30 pm all of the these clips were shot.

The country’s highest Islamic authority is refusing to take the blame for issuing an incorrect edict in March, which stipulated that worshipers had to face westward in order to be praying toward Mecca.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) announced on Wednesday that Mecca was actually to the northwest of Indonesia, and not to the west as it said earlier.

“Just because we revised our edict doesn’t make the previous ruling completely wrong,” MUI councilor Umar Shihab told the Jakarta Globe.

“We’re just fine-tuning it to make it more precise.”

“It’s not a big problem, as not all Indonesian mosques are incorrectly oriented,” he added.

“Many have pointed toward the wrong direction for years.”

Mecca is located on the 21st parallel north, while the northernmost point of Indonesia is on the 5th parallel, Umar said.

He called on local worshipers not to be too concerned about the change, saying their previous prayers would “still be valid”. He also made assurances that mosques would not have to be renovated to reflect the change.

Intentionally praying in the wrong direction is considered a sin in Islam, while unintentional mistakes are not.

“There’s no need to change the building structure,” he said, adding the MUI would officially inform mosque managers through an edict.

“Just make a minor adjustment by rotating the prayer mats slightly,” he said.

KH Said Aqil Siradj, the chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama, the country’s biggest Islamic organization, said the MUI’s edict in March was a regrettably poor decision by the body.

“They shouldn’t have rushed to such an important decision,” he said. “Anything concerning public law should be made after a long contemplation.

“It’s good that the MUI realized their mistake and took steps to rectify it, but let this be a lesson to them not to churn out edicts in such haste.”

Said added that top NU scholars would meet in the near future to discuss the issue.

In January, Islamic scholar Mutoha Arkanuddin claimed that anything between 50 and 80 percent of the country’s mosques and graves were not properly oriented toward Mecca, drawing the ire of conservative clerics. (dar)

13th July 2010 – Leading scare attraction, The London Dungeon is confounded by the ASA’s decision to pull an interactive London Underground ad campaign for its latest attraction because it is deemed too scary for the public.

Promoting the attraction’s newest feature, which tells the gruesome story of Bloody Mary Tudor, the campaign at the centre of the furore showed a sequence of moving images which turned Henry VIII’s notorious daughter from a stately medieval Queen to terrifyingly ghoulish Queen.   The Advertising Standards Association (ASA) ruled the ad was in breach of CAP Code clause 9.1 and could cause fear and distress.

“We’re in the business of scaring with a historical twist and we pride ourselves on advertising that is provocative and edgy”  General Manager Nicola Ratcliffe commented: “However we are  amazed by the ASA’s decision.  Indeed, we worked closely with all the necessary bodies to ensure our Bloody Mary advertising met all the required criteria.  Undoubtedly the sight of a regal monarch morphing into a monstrous figure is an arresting one and was intended to grab attention. However, we are totally confounded by this decision.  It seems a total over reaction to a tiny number of complaints and can certainly not be representative of a consensus of opinion.”

The ASA’s decision was in response to just four complaints but the Dungeon’s appeal against the  decision was overruled.
A similar complaint from the National Blood Donation Service about a previous campaign, was lodged last year, but was successfully defended and rejected.

Mais l’afrique à l’abris des menaces Américaines, Chinoises sur l’énérgie, de corruption etc, non? c’est pour quand ? Les Peace corps c’est du pipobello, une autre grande farce, j’espère que les évangélistes et autres pseudo porteurs de paix impérialistes vont déserter de plus en plus le continent Africain, d’un côté les bombes, les lobby et de l’autres Jésus, la Paix et du riz, la corruption au plus haut niveau pour le pétrole et le gaz et ensuite des missions humanitaires…ces Américains  (entre autres) sont vraiment débiles à vouloir persévérer dans cette politique etrangère, il serait temps qu’ils pensent un peu plus à leurs problèmes internes (et la il y a des milliards a dépenser) au lieu de vouloir encore et encore évangéliser le monde et continuer de prendre l’émisphère sud pour des deumeurés. Mais c’est vrai, il n’y a pas d’Américains qui enlève des touristes musulmans aux U.S.A. donc les méchants c’est evidement Al-Qaida, dès que quelque-un est musulman il est islamiste et terroriste dans son propre pays?
