Interruption du Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011

Lausanne, le 21 décembre 2011 – Le Musée de l’Elysée a décidé d’interrompre l’organisation du Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011, un prix doté de 25’000 euros et introduit en 2010 pour soutenir la jeune création.

Dans le cadre de l’édition 2011 du prix, huit candidats ont été sélectionnés pour participer au concours consistant à produire trois photographies sur le thème « La joie de vivre ». A l’aide d’une bourse individuelle de 4000 euros, chaque candidat avait carte blanche pour aborder le thème comme il le voulait, de manière directe ou détournée, avec authenticité ou dérision, sur la base d’un travail existant ou d’une création. Le jury d’experts aurait dû se réunir fin janvier 2012 pour désigner la/le lauréat/e du Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011.

La volonté du partenaire privé d’exclure Larissa Sansour, l’une des candidates du concours, est à l’origine de la décision du Musée de l’Elysée. Nous réaffirmons notre soutien à Larissa Sansour pour la qualité artistique de son travail et son engagement. Le Musée de l’Elysée lui a d’ores et déjà proposé de montrer au musée la série de photos « Nation Estate » soumise par cette dernière dans le cadre du concours.

Depuis 25 ans, le Musée de l’Elysée défend avec force les artistes, leurs oeuvres, la liberté artistique et la liberté d’expression. Avec la décision prise aujourd’hui, le Musée de l’Elysée réitère son engagement en faveur de ses valeurs fondamentales.

Suspension of the Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011

Lausanne, 21 December 2011 – The Musée de l’Elysée has decided to suspend the organisation of the Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011. Introduced in 2010 to sustain young photographers, the prize is worth 25 000 euros.

In the context of the 2011 edition of the prize, eight nominees were selected to take part in the contest. They were asked to produce three photographs on the theme la joie de vivre. With the help of a individual grant of 4 000 euros, each nominee had carte blanche to interpret the theme in which ever way they favoured, in a direct or indirect manner, with authenticity or irony, based upon their existing or as an entirely new creation. An expert jury should have met at the end of January 2012 to select the winner of the Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011.

The Musée de l’Elysée has based its decision on the private partner’s wish to exclude Larissa Sansour, one of the prize nominees. We reaffirm our support to Larissa Sansour for the artistic quality of her work and her dedication. The Musée de l’Elysée has already proposed to her to present at the museum the series of photographs “Nation Estate”, which she submitted in the framework of the contest.

For 25 years, the Musée de l’Elysée has defended with strength artists, their work, freedom of the arts and of speech. With the decision it has taken today, the Musée de l’Elysée repeats its commitment to its fundamental values.

(Reuters) – Biologists tracking jaguars in the Guatemalan jungle might smell nice but it’s all in the name of science, with researchers finding the Calvin Klein cologne Obession for Men attracts big cats. Biologists Rony Garcia and Jose Moreira from the Wildlife Conservation Society’s (WCS) Jaguar Conservation Program say they use hidden cameras as a primary source for observing and tracking jaguars in the Guatemala’s Maya Biosphere Reserve.

They also tried out about 23 other fragrances but Obsession for Men kept the cats’ attention for longest with Nina Ricci’s L’Air du Temps coming second.
